The Uniform Tax Claims website has been providing information for UK based income tax payers and workers, who are interested in claiming back tax that they are owed under the uniform maintenance scheme. However, due to popular demand the website team have now launched a new service. As part of this new service they will make the claim on behalf of the applicant. This service has been launched to make it even easier for UK workers to get a tax rebate, as well as paying lower taxes going forward.

While this scheme is only open to those workers who are required by their employer to wear a uniform to work, it could still apply to a large portion of the population. Many workers are required to wear a uniform to work but they arent aware that the cost of cleaning their uniform can be offset against their salary, explained the website owner. This means that they could be overpaying their income tax each, and if so they could be entitled to a refund, he continued. This scheme means that if a worker is required to pay for the upkeep of their uniform, including washing, cleaning, repairing, and replacing it, then these costs can be offset against their income tax payments.

While applications can be made directly to HM Revenue & Customs by the applicant, many workers are put off making the claim due to the perceived levels of bureaucracy involved. Making the claim isnt too problematic for most people, claimed the website owner. However, many people dont know where to start and this was becoming obvious from the questions that would be sent to our Uniform Tax Claims website by workers seeking guidance in making a claim, he stated. Spotting this need of the visitors to the website, the site quickly changed direction and instead of simply offering advice, began promoting a service to help eligible workers claim the money they were entitled to.

Since the website launched this no win no fee service, its been a very popular addition to the site. Visitors to the site can now either use the information on the site to launch their own claim, or undertake the services on offer to outsource the process for claiming their uniform tax rbate. As the claims can be made back as far as four years, the amounts received in overpaid tax can be quite substantial. Another benefit to making the claim and notifying the HMRC that the worker is paying for the upkeep of their uniform themselves, is that their tax code will be adjusted to reflect this situation in the future. This can result in less income tax being paid each year and a higher take home salary each month.

With the economy still not back to its most buoyant, any service that aims to help workers reduce their income tax payments, and claim a tax refund going back up to four years is likely to be a popular service for some time to come.
